Tungumálaskólinn: paid Icelandic course on the Internet
Posted by Fernán in Languages, Iceland and Icelandic on November 22nd, 2007
I got fresh news from my landlord today. He told me a common friend of us in the U.S. is taking Icelandic lessons on the Internet, but not on the widely-known Icelandic Online (free of charge for everyone, but also with a paid version as well called Icelandic Online Plus). Tungumálaskólinn offers paid courses on the Internet, for a lower fee for those who are residents in Iceland since the Icelandic Government pays for a part of this course (for example, a student in Iceland would pay €120 for a course worth €320 I saw).
They offer several levels and want students to practise all their language skills (oral and written comprenhension and expression). I haven’t had the chance to try it out, so I would love to hear about these courses in the comments if any of you has already tried it. I’ve been gladly surprised when I saw that one of the founders is my first Icelandic teacher, the one I had in my Erasmus Intensive Language Course in August 2006. I learned a lot in her course, it helped much.
